A Glimpse into our Homeschooling Adventures!

Hi everyone!

I can freely come out and announce that I do homeschool both of my boys! Their father has given us his blessing which is a joyful miracle to me!! I have been learning about homeschooling for several months. This is my first year, and I am still learning!! Any advice and tips would be appreciated!!

I enjoy spending quality of time with Landon (age 4) and Brady (age 2). We have a wonderful bond. I enjoy the liberty in homeschooling and teaching them wisdom in life as well as education. This is the most natural way to go, and God designed teachers in parents. As I give Landon and Brady back to God, I want to lift them above my head. I want to teach them everything I know, and teach them how to go on ahead of me.

From Nature walks and picnics in the park...



to enjoying music together...



to hands on activities...



and quiet time readings.



Homeschooling is fun!!!

    Your boys look like they have such a special bond! They're just so cute together! I look forward to reading more about what you are learning as you homeschool! My lil man is almost four and I'm really excited/nervous about starting homeschooling (I guess we've already been doing a laissez faire form of it already) I'm just not a very structured person and I'll need to be much more organized in this area. I'm praying God will give me wisdom. ^_^

    What precious little boys! My oldest daughter homeschools also and she absolutely loves it and so do the kids.

    Aw, thank you! I am not a structured person.. at all. I've tried making a schedule many times and failed lol. The great thing about homeschooling is that you can teach them everywhere you go. It's just life, and it took me a while to break out of that "structured school system" mindset.

    Landon will come up to me and ask me to let him do some workbooks on his own! When we go to the store, he can learn how to do math there, when we go to nature walks, I tell him about photosynthesis and what kind of animals live in the trees, or we take drives and I show him types of landscapes. It's just liberty in teaching :)

    Oh! fun tip: I always have closed captions on tv because I am deaf and so is my youngest son, yet I notice it really boosts speed reading and spelling in children! Some people have started leaving CC in their homes all the time! :-)

    We've noticed a lot of homeschoolers that tend to go a little crazy on the structured side too, like you said, so then, what's the point of homeschooling? lol. My Mom wrote an article on the discipleship way of homeschooling which is what we do, and sounds exactly like what you're describing doing too.

    May GOD bless you on this awesome journey. I homeschooled my kids. My youngest is a 10th grader, now. It is a blessed journey and I do NOT regret it. I rejoice with you in your decision. I am thankful I chose homeschooling. There are many support systems now that I did not have when I started. Take advantage of them.

    They are growing so big! They are so handsome and obviously they are tremendously loved!

    I'm excited for you and your children and all God has planned for you. You are always in my prayers.

    My daughter-in-law is going to do homeschooling in the Fall. It'll be pre-school. I think she's excited about it.I think that's great to teach your children. You can incorporate so much about God into your lessons.

    Aw, I miss my nephews :( they're growing too fast! I love how Brady is listening veeery closely to that piano, such a cute lil' deafie. Landon is also a good lil' teacher for Brady, he even taught Cody a few things already ("Mom, how do I look?")

    Even though Cody is three, I'm getting started on education. I bought him a dry erase board today where we'll be able to practice the ABC's, counting, and shapes without using paper :) Cody keeps begging for more "homework" and I love it!

    Your boys are so adorable! Kudos for you staying home and teaching them. I believe that they will be much better off and learn so much more.

    I have been homeschooling both of my kids for 4 years going on 5 and I love it. They love it even more and I love the question I get all the time, why are your kids in school whenever we go to the store.

    My kids just grin, ear to ear, and say, we are homeschooled. I love it and would be happy to give you any tips you want. You can email me direct if you need.

    I homeschooled my kids until Josiah was in 5th grade, Rachel was in 4th, Olivia was in 3rd, and Amanda was going to start Kindergarden. I did not think I could handle 4 altogether, so I put them all in school. They did great. they were all ahead of their classmates. God helped me so!
